Issue Summary
Vehicle data is considered delayed when information from the tracking device reaches the platform later than expected. This can affect location, ignition, speed, and other vehicle parameters, resulting in the platform displaying older data instead of the vehicle's current status.
Symptoms / How to Identify
- Vehicle information is not updating in real time.
- The last received time is older than the expected update interval.
- Vehicle location appears behind the vehicle's actual movement.
- Ignition or speed status updates after a noticeable delay.
- Data packets are received in batches instead of continuously.
- The device may be online but the latest data is not displayed immediately.
Information Required Before Troubleshooting
Collect the following information:
- Vehicle/Object name or ID
- Device IMEI/Serial Number
- Date and time when the delay was observed
- Expected update interval
- Actual data received time
- Latest data packet received
- Vehicle's actual location/status
- Screenshot showing the delayed data
- Whether the delay affects one vehicle or multiple vehicles
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the last received data/time for the vehicle.
- Compare the device's data timestamp with the time the data was received by the platform.
- Open the Status/Raw Data section and review the latest data packets.
- Check whether data packets are being received continuously or in batches.
- Verify the device's GSM/network connectivity.
- Check whether the device has a weak or intermittent network connection.
- Verify the configured data transmission/update interval.
- Check whether the device is storing data and sending it later when connectivity is restored.
- Determine whether the delay is affecting one vehicle, a particular device model, or multiple vehicles.
- If the device is transmitting data on time but the platform is displaying it late, escalate the issue for server-side investigation.

- Poor or unstable GSM/network connectivity.
- Temporary loss of network coverage.
- Device storing data and transmitting it later.
- Incorrect device transmission interval.
- Device configuration issue.
- High network latency.
- Device hardware or firmware issue.
- Communication/protocol issue.
- Platform/server-side processing delay.
- Large volume of incoming data causing processing delays.
Resolution / Action
Verify the device's network connectivity, transmission interval, and latest raw data timestamps. If the device itself is sending data late, investigate the device, SIM/network, or configuration. If the device is sending data on time but the platform receives or displays it late, escalate the issue to the technical/platform team with the vehicle ID, IMEI, timestamps, and relevant raw data for further investigation.
