External Battery Voltage Status
The External Battery Voltage status may remain Green even when a low voltage value is received from the device. This is because the system does not currently apply a common low-voltage threshold to all external batteries.
Example Questions
- Why is the external battery status still Green when the voltage is low?
- Why does the battery indicator not change color based on the voltage?
- What causes the external battery status to remain Green?
- When does the external battery status change to Red?
- Is the battery voltage threshold configurable?
Symptoms
- External battery voltage is displayed in the Object View.
- The voltage value may be low, but the status remains Green.
- The status changes to Red only when the received voltage is 0.
Information Required
For investigation, collect:
- Vehicle/Object name.
- Voltage value displayed on the platform.
- Screenshot of the Object View.
- Battery voltage rating, if available.
- Device/raw data, if required for verification.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the external battery voltage displayed on the platform.
- Verify whether the device is transmitting the voltage correctly.
- Compare the platform reading with the actual/device-reported voltage.
- Check whether the received voltage is a valid non-zero value.
- If a valid voltage is being received, the Green status is expected under the current functionality.
- If the received value is 0, verify whether the status changes to Red.
Possible Cause
The system does not automatically determine the appropriate low-voltage threshold because external batteries may have different voltage ratings and configurations.
As a result, a low but non-zero voltage value cannot be universally classified as a low-battery condition.
Resolution
No configuration change is required if the platform is receiving a valid non-zero voltage.
Under the current functionality:
- Green: A valid external battery voltage is being received.
- Red: The received external battery voltage is 0.
If the requirement is to show different colors based on customized voltage thresholds, this would need to be considered as a product enhancement.
