Tank Lid Alert

Definition / Description

The Tank Lid Alert is triggered when the fuel tank lid of a vehicle is opened or closed. This alert helps monitor fuel access activity to prevent unauthorized refueling, fuel theft, or tampering. By tracking each instance of tank lid operation, fleet managers can maintain better control over fuel usage, improve accountability, and ensure fuel security across the fleet.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

Tank Lid Sensor Configuration:
Tank Lid must be selected from the Sensors Connected dropdown. 

How to Configure

  1. Select the Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose one of the following options:Object, Object Group or Object Type
  3. Select the Vehicle where the alert should be applied.
  4. Enter an Alert Name (e.g., Tank Lid Alert).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Tank Lid.
  6. Choose the Value for which the alert should trigger: Open, Close or Both
  7. Enter a Text Message (e.g., “Tank Lid Alert — fuel tank opened/closed”).
  8. Configure Valid Day(s):
    • Everyday – active on all days.
    • Custom – select specific days.
  9. Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
  10. Select the Timezone.
  11. Choose the Severity LevelLow, Medium, or High.
  12. Configure the Action to be taken when the alert is triggered:SMS, Email or Notification
  13. Click Save to complete the configuration.

Example / Use Case

A Tank Lid Alert is triggered when the system detects that a vehicle’s fuel tank lid has been opened during non-refueling hours or outside authorized zones. For instance, if the lid is opened at an unexpected location, the system immediately triggers the tank lid alert. 

Value: Open, Close or Both. 

  • Open: Trigger the alert when the tank lid is open. 
  • Close: Trigger the alert when the tank lid is close. 
  • Both: Trigger the alert when the tank lid is opened and closed.

Action

The selected alert action determines how notifications are delivered:

  • SMS: Must be configured under Admin, Reseller, or Company setup. Contact numbers can be added to receive instant SMS notifications.
  • Email: Add email recipients to receive the tank lid alert via email.
  • In-App Notification: Choose a notification sound and specify users who should be notified within the platform.

When Based On: Vehicle, Vehicle Group, or Vehicle Type

  • Vehicle: Select individual vehicles equipped with a tank lid sensor for monitoring.
  • Vehicle Group: Select a group of vehicles to collectively track tank lid open/close events.
  • Vehicle Type: Choose a type of vehicle (e.g., trucks, tankers) that supports tank lid monitoring.
