State Border Crossing Alert

Definition / Description

The State Border Crossing Alert is triggered when a vehicle crosses a state boundary as detected through location data. Once the vehicle enters a new state, the system identifies the transition and generates an address-based alert. This alert helps fleet managers track interstate vehicle movement, ensure compliance with regional regulations, monitor long-distance trips, and maintain better visibility over assets operating across state lines. Whenever a border crossing is detected, the system immediately notifies the concerned personnel.

  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select State Border Crossing.

Example / Use Case

A State Border Crossing Alert is triggered when a vehicle moves from one state into another during a trip. For example, when a long-haul truck passes through a state boundary, the system detects the transition and sends an address-based alert to the fleet manager. This helps maintain visibility over inter-state movement, ensures regulatory compliance for cross-border operations, and supports better trip monitoring and planning.

Based-On

  • Vehicle:Apply the alert to an individual vehicle that frequently operates across state boundaries.

  • Vehicle Group:Use this option when multiple vehicles assigned to a specific project or region regularly travel between states.

  • Vehicle Type:Applicable for fleets consisting of different categories—such as logistics trucks, buses, or commercial vehicles—allowing border crossing monitoring across specific vehicle types.

Consider (Condition)

Trip

The alert monitors the vehicle’s state transitions during active trips and triggers when a border crossing is detected.

Number Of Alerts (Single / Multiple)

  • Single – triggers once per border entry.
  • Multiple – triggers repeatedly if the border crossing condition happens more than once during the monitored period.

Action

  • SMS:Configured under Admin/Reseller/Company settings. Add mobile numbers to receive immediate notifications when a vehicle crosses a state border.

  • Email:Add email addresses so recipients receive border crossing alerts and details directly in their inbox.

  • Notification:Select a notification tone and assign users who should receive in-app alerts whenever a state boundary transition occurs.
