Proximity Violation Alert

Definition / Description

The Proximity Violation Alert is triggered when a vehicle comes within a predefined distance of a designated object or area, as detected by a sensor or beacon. This alert is device-specific and helps monitor and control how close vehicles operate to restricted zones, sensitive equipment, or other vehicles. It is particularly useful for ensuring safety, maintaining operational discipline, and preventing collisions or unauthorized access. Notifications or commands (such as immobilization) can be triggered automatically whenever the alert is activated.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

  • Device Installation:
The vehicle must be equipped with a compatible proximity sensor or beacon that supports distance-based monitoring.
  • Communication Setup:
To receive alerts, the notification channels (SMS, Email, Notification, or Command) must be configured properly.

How to Configure

  1. Select the Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose one of the following options:
    • Object
    • Object Group
    • Object Type
  3. Select the Object (vehicle or asset) where the alert should be applied.
  4. Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “Proximity Violation”).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Proximity Violation.
  6. Under Consider, select the mode of detection:
    • Event – based on sensor-generated data.
    • Beacon – based on beacon proximity signals.
  7. Set the Distance condition (e.g., Less Than 5 meters).
  8. Define the Duration (in seconds) to specify how long the vehicle must remain within that range for the alert to trigger.
  9. Enter a Text Message (e.g., “Proximity Violation Alert – vehicle within restricted distance”).
  10. Configure Valid Day(s):
    • Everyday – to monitor daily.
    • Custom – to monitor on specific days.
  11. Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
  12. Select the Timezone based on the region of operation.
  13. Choose the Severity LevelLow, Medium, or High based on risk level.
  14. Configure the Action to define how the system responds when the alert is triggered:
    • SMS – send text message notifications.
    • Email – send alert details via email.
    • Notification – display in-app alerts for selected users.
    • Immobilize / Send Command – execute automated safety commands such as engine immobilization.
  15. Click Save to activate the alert configuration.

Example / Use Case

A Proximity Violation Alert is triggered when a vehicle equipped with a proximity sensor or beacon comes too close to a restricted area, another vehicle, or a protected asset. For instance, if a delivery truck approaches a loading bay or another vehicle within a restricted safety distance, the alert is activated. This ensures workplace safety, prevents equipment collisions, and helps maintain secure operational zones.

Based-On

  • Event-Based: The alert is triggered when the system detects a proximity event from the sensor.
  • Beacon-Based: The alert is triggered when a vehicle enters the signal range of a configured beacon.
    • Distance Threshold:
The alert activates when the detected distance between the vehicle and the target object is less than the specified value (in meters)
    • Duration:
The duration (in seconds) determines how long the condition must persist before the alert is triggered to avoid false positives.

When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

  • Object: Apply the alert to an individual vehicle equipped with a proximity detection system.
  • Object Group: Apply to a group of vehicles operating in the same zone or project area.
  • Object Type: Apply to specific types of vehicles (e.g., forklifts, loaders, trucks) to enforce safety standards fleet-wide.

Action

  • SMS: Must be configured under Admin, Reseller, or Company setup. Add recipient numbers for instant alerts.
  • Email: Add recipient email addresses to receive the alert details in their inbox.
  • Notification: Choose a notification sound and specify users who should receive in-app alerts.
  • Immobilize: In order to immobilize the object, when this alert is triggered it is important to enable the checkbox of Immobilization while creating an Admin, Reseller or a Company’s account and an Immobilization sensor attachment is also required, which can be done while adding an Object. .
  • Send Command: The commands of a GPS device can be used here.
