Fence Over stay

The Fence Overstay alert is triggered when a vehicle remains inside a selected geofence or geofence group for a duration longer than the user-defined time limit.
This alert helps fleet managers monitor delays, detect unauthorized halts, and ensure vehicles are adhering to their operational timelines. Idle & Stopped vehicles are considered by default. you can configure the condition of the vehicle as well in the configuration.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

  • Geofence / Geofence Group: Select the specific geofence or geofence group to monitor.

Please Note: Geofence can be configured through Settings > Master > Geofence.

How to Configure

  1. Select the correct Company and Branch for whom the alert is to be configured.

  2. Based On: Choose on what you want to base the alert configuration (Object, Object Group, Object Type).

    1. Object: Select individual vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.
    2. Object Group: Select a group of vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.
    3. Object Type: Select vehicle or object type for whom you want the alert to generate.
  3. Select the Object based on the previous step selection.

  4. Set an Alert Name for identification of the alert.

  5. Select the Alert Type as Fence OverStay.

  6. Consider Status, Enable the checkbox if you want the configure vehicle status to be considered for the alert.
    1. Select Idle if you want only idling vehicle to be considered.
    2. Select Stoppage if you want only Stopped vehicle to be considered
    3. Select Idle + Stoppage if you want Idling & Stopped vehicle both to be considered.
  7. Select Inside or Outside condition for the Geofence.
    1. Select Inside if you want to trigger the alert, when object stays inside the geofence for more than the set time.
    2. Select Outside if you want to trigger the alert, when object stays outside the geofence for more than the set time.
  8. From Consider select weather you want Geofence or Geofence Group to get the listing.
    1. Select Geofence, if you want to list out all available geofence.  
      1. From Geofence Area, Select the Geofence for which you want to configure the Alert.
    2. Select Geofence Group if you want to select geofence from a particular geofence group.
      1. From the Geofence Group, Select the Group for which you want to configure the alert.
  9. Enter the Value (in minutes), after which the alert will be triggered. ( if the vehicle stays more than the defined time limit. )
  10. In the Text field, enter the message that will be displayed when the alert is triggered.

  11. Select the Valid Days, Everyday or Custom. 
    1. Everyday: This alert will be triggered, everyday in case of a violation in accordance to these parameters set.
    2. Custom: Mark the checkboxes of the days, when you want this alert to be triggered for. (eg., Sun, Mon and Sat)
  12. Enter the Valid Time From and To. The alert will be generated inside the time range that you have selected.
  13. Select the Timezone.
  14. Select the Severity of the alert (LowMedium, or High).
  15. Mark the checkboxes of the medium via which you want the Action or Notification to be sent. (eg., SMS, Email or Notification)
    1. SMS: To receive an alert by SMS, enable the checkbox, enter the phone numbers.
    2. Email: To receive an alert by Email, enable the checkbox, enter the recipients of the email.
    3. Notification: To receive an alert on the system Push Notification, enable checkbox, and select the notification tone. you’ll receive notifications according to the Severity Set i.e Low, Medium or High.
    4. Buzzer: To play the buzzer when the alert is triggered, enable the checkbox & select weather the buzzer should Turn On/Off or Both.
    5. Immobilize: To trigger the immobilizer when the alert is generated, enable the checkbox & select weather the immobilizer should be turned on or off.
  16. Click Save to save the alert configuration.

Please Note: To Receive the alert on SMS & Email, the api should be configured either on Admin, Reseller or Company.

Example

In the logistics industry, if a delivery truck enters a customer warehouse geofence and remains there for more than the defined 45-minute limit, the Fence Overstay alert is triggered. In another case, for public transport fleets, if a bus stays too long at a terminal or stop, the alert helps operations teams maintain schedule adherence and minimize passenger inconvenience.
