The Elock Steel String Cut Alert is triggered when the electronic lock (Elock) detects that its internal steel string or cable has been cut, disconnected, or tampered with. This alert indicates a potential security breach or unauthorized access attempt and enables fleet managers to take immediate action to secure the asset, vehicle, or cargo. The alert is critical for ensuring cargo safety, theft prevention, and maintaining operational integrity during transportation or storage.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

Elock Device Model:
An Elock-enabled device must be installed and configured on the object screen. The device should support tamper detection and be capable of sending an event signal when the steel string or cable is cut or broken.

How to Configure

  1. Select the relevant Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose the basis for triggering the alert:Object, Object Groupor Object Type 
  3. Select the Object where the alert should be applied.
  4. Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “Elock Steel String Cut”).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Elock Steel String Cut.
  6. In the Based On field, choose one of the following options:
    • On Job – To trigger only during active jobs or trips.
    • All Event – To trigger anytime the steel string is cut.
  7. In the Text field, enter a descriptive message (e.g., “Elock steel string cut or tampered — potential security breach detected”).
  8. Configure Valid Day(s):
    • Everyday – for all days.
    • Custom – to select specific days.
  9. Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
  10. Select the appropriate Timezone.
  11. Choose the Severity LevelLow, Medium, or High 
  12. Configure the Action to be taken when the alert triggers: SMS, Email, or Notification.
  13. Click Save to complete configuration.

Example / Use Case

An Elock Steel String Cut Alert is triggered when the Elock device detects that its steel cable has been severed or tampered with while a truck is parked or in transit. This event indicates a potential unauthorized attempt to open the container or access its contents. The alert immediately notifies the fleet manager via the configured communication channel, allowing them to contact the driver, dispatch security personnel, or take other preventive measures to secure the cargo and prevent theft or damage.

Action

The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).

  • SMS: Must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, you can add the contact numbers that should receive the alert notification.
  • Email: Must be configured during account setup. You can then add email recipients to receive the alert notification via email.
  • In-App Notification: You can select the notification sound and specify users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.

When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

  • Object: Select individual vehicles or assets equipped with an Elock for which the alert should be applied.
  • Object Group: Select a group of Elock-equipped vehicles or assets; all in the group will be included.
  • Object Type: Select vehicle or asset types that support Elock tamper detection; all under that type will be available for configuration.
