Definition / Description
The DMS Driver Shift Alert is triggered when the Driver Monitoring System (DMS) detects the start or change of a driver’s shift. This alert helps fleet managers monitor driver shift timings, ensure authorized personnel are operating vehicles during designated hours, and maintain accurate shift and driver activity records to support compliance and operational efficiency.
Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)
Video Streaming Device or DMS:
A DMS-enabled camera or video streaming device must be installed and properly configured on the object screen to detect and report driver identity and shift change events.
How to Configure
- Select the relevant Company and Branch.
- Under Based On, choose on what objects you want the alert to be triggered:Object, Object Group or Object Type
- Select the Object where the alert should be applied.
- Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “DMS Driver Shift”).
- From the Alert Type dropdown, select Driver Shift.
- In the Text field, enter a descriptive message (e.g., “Driver shift started as detected by DMS system”).
- Configure Valid Day(s):
- Everyday – for all days.

- Custom – to select specific days.
- Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
- Select the appropriate Timezone.
- Choose the Severity Level — Low, Medium, or High.
- Configure the Action to be taken when the alert triggers: SMS, Email, or Notification.
- Click Save to complete the configuration.
Example / Use Case
A DMS Driver Shift Alert is triggered when the installed DMS camera detects the start of a new driver’s shift or a transition between shifts. This alert helps fleet managers ensure that the driver operating the vehicle is authorized and that shift changes are properly recorded. It supports better shift management, compliance tracking, and operational planning for fleet operations.
Action
The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).
- SMS: SMS must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, you can add the contact numbers that should receive the alert notification.
- Email: Email must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. You can then add email recipients to receive the alert notification via email.
- In-App Notification: You can select the notification sound and specify the users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.
When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type
- Object: Select individual vehicles equipped with a DMS device for which the alert should be applied.
- Object Group: Select a group of DMS-equipped vehicles; all in the group will appear for selection.
- Object Type: Select vehicle types that support DMS-based driver monitoring; all vehicles under that type will be available for configuration.
