DMS Driver Change Alert

Definition / Description

The DMS Driver Change Alert is triggered when the Driver Monitoring System (DMS) detects a change in the driver — that is, when a new or different driver takes control of the vehicle during a trip. This alert helps fleet managers track driver shifts, identify unauthorized driver swaps, and ensure that the person operating the vehicle is recognized and approved, thereby improving safety and accountability.

A DMS-enabled camera or video streaming device must be installed and properly configured on the object screen to detect and report driver identity changes.

Example / Use Case

A DMS Driver Change Alert is triggered when the installed DMS camera detects a new driver taking control of the vehicle, indicating that the driver has changed during the journey. This alert helps fleet managers monitor driver replacements, prevent unauthorized driver changes, and maintain accurate records of who is operating the vehicle at all times, thereby improving fleet safety and compliance.

Action

The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).

  • SMS: SMS must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, you can add the contact numbers that should receive the alert notification.
  • Email: Email must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. You can then add email recipients to receive the alert notification via email.
  • In-App Notification: You can select the notification sound and specify the users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.

When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

  • Object: Select individual vehicles equipped with a DMS device for which the alert should be applied.
  • Object Group: Select a group of DMS-equipped vehicles; all in the group will appear for selection.
  • Object Type: Select vehicle types that support DMS-based driver identification; all vehicles under that type will be available for configuration.
