DMS Driver Assist Function Failure

Definition / Description

The DMS Driver Assist Function Failure alert is triggered when the Driver Monitoring System (DMS) detects a malfunction or failure in one or more of its assistive functions, such as driver monitoring, facial recognition, or distraction detection. This alert helps fleet managers identify technical issues in the DMS device to ensure that critical safety features remain operational and continue to support safe driving practices.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

Video Streaming Device or DMS:
A DMS-enabled camera or video streaming device must be installed and properly configured on the object screen. The device should be capable of monitoring its operational status and reporting any assistive function failures or communication errors.

How to Configure

  1. Select the relevant Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose on what objects you want the alert to be triggered: Object, Object Group, or Object Type.
  3. Select the Object where the alert should be applied.
  4. Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “DMS Driver Assist Function Failure”).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Driver Assist Function Failure.

Example / Use Case

A DMS Driver Assist Function Failure alert is triggered when the DMS camera reports that one or more of its driver assistance features—such as fatigue detection, distraction monitoring, or facial recognition—has stopped functioning or encountered a fault. This alert informs the fleet manager that the DMS system requires attention or maintenance to restore its safety monitoring capabilities, ensuring that the vehicle continues to operate under optimal safety conditions.

Action

The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).

  • SMS: SMS must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, you can add the contact numbers that should receive the alert notification.
  • Email: Email must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. You can then add email recipients to receive the alert notification via email.
  • In-App Notification: You can select the notification sound and specify the users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.

When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

  • Object: Select individual vehicles equipped with a DMS device for which the alert should be applied.
  • Object Group: Select a group of DMS-equipped vehicles; all in the group will appear for selection.
  • Object Type: Select vehicle types that support DMS-based monitoring; all vehicles under that type will be available for configuration.
