Duplicate IMEI / SIM Number Showing During Inventory Upload

Issue Summary

During an Inventory Upload, the system may identify an IMEI or SIM number as a duplicate if the same value already exists in the system or is duplicated within the uploaded file.

The upload screen highlights the affected fields and displays the specific reason for the duplicate, such as Duplicate IMEI, Duplicate SIM, or Duplicate Secondary SIM.

Example Questions

    • Why am I getting a Duplicate IMEI error during inventory upload?
    • Why is my SIM number showing as duplicate?
    • Why is the Secondary SIM showing as already existing in the system?
    • The IMEI is new, but the upload says it is duplicate. What should I check?
    • How can I identify which IMEI or SIM is already registered?
    • Why can't I upload an inventory file because of duplicate details?

Symptoms / How to Identify

During the inventory upload, the system may display an error against the affected record, such as:

  • Duplicate IMEI (already exists in system)
  • Duplicate SIM (already exists in system)
  • Duplicate Secondary SIM (already exists in system)

The upload screen also indicates that fields highlighted in yellow may either:

  • Already exist in the system, or
  • Be duplicated within the uploaded file.

Information Required Before Troubleshooting

Before troubleshooting, collect:

  • IMEI number
  • Primary SIM number
  • Secondary SIM number
  • Uploaded inventory file
  • Error message displayed during upload
  • Existing inventory/object details, if available

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Review the error displayed against each affected record in the inventory upload screen.
  2. Identify whether the duplicate relates to:
    • IMEI
    • Primary SIM
    • Secondary SIM
  3. Check the reported IMEI/SIM number in the existing inventory records.
  4. Verify whether the value already exists in the system under another object or inventory record.
  5. Check the uploaded file to ensure the same IMEI or SIM is not repeated in another row.
  6. If the system indicates that a value already exists but no duplicate can be found, verify the exact value entered, including any extra spaces or incorrect digits.
  7. Correct or remove the duplicate value from the upload file and upload the inventory again.
  8. If the value does not appear to be duplicated but the system continues to show the error, provide the affected IMEI/SIM details and screenshot of the error to the Uffizio Technical Support Team for verification.

Possible Cause

The duplicate warning can occur when:

  • The IMEI already exists in the system.
  • The primary SIM already exists in the system.
  • The secondary SIM already exists in the system.
  • The same IMEI or SIM is entered more than once in the uploaded file.
  • The value in the upload file does not exactly match the expected details.
  • A previously registered inventory/object record is associated with the reported IMEI or SIM.

Resolution / Action

Check the affected IMEI/SIM against the existing inventory records and the uploaded file.

If the value genuinely already exists, use the correct existing record or provide a unique IMEI/SIM before uploading.

If the system reports a duplicate but the value cannot be found as a duplicate in the system, share the IMEI/SIM details with the Uffizio Technical Support Team for verification.

Note: A duplicate warning does not always mean that every value in the row is duplicated. Check the Error column carefully to identify whether the issue is with the IMEI, primary SIM, or secondary SIM.
