Temperature Alert

Definition / Description

The Temperature Alert is triggered when the temperature recorded by the sensor crosses the predefined threshold based on custom values or calibrated temperature readings. This alert helps fleet managers monitor temperature-sensitive vehicles or assets such as refrigerated trucks, cold-chain cargo, and machinery requiring specific temperature conditions. Alerts ensure that temperature deviations are detected instantly so corrective action can be taken to avoid spoilage, damage, or operational issues. Whenever the temperature exceeds or falls below the configured limits, the system automatically notifies the responsible personnel.

How to Configure

Step 1: Select Operational Details

  1. Select the Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose one of the following:
    • Vehicle
    • Vehicle Group
    • Vehicle Type
  3. Select the Object (the specific vehicle or set of vehicles to which the alert applies).
  4. Enter the Alert Name (e.g., “Temperature Alert”).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Temperature.
  6. Under Based On, Custom or Calibration
    1. If Custom:
    • Exclude Address if temperature evaluation should not be considered at specific locations (for example, unloading points where temperature variation is expected).
    • Set the Value condition and enter the temperature threshold(s) as per the requirement:
Greater Than, Less Than, Between and Not Between.
    • Set the Duration (in seconds) to define how long the temperature must remain in violation before triggering an alert.
  7. Ignition: Tick the checkbox if the alert should trigger only when ignition is ON.
  8. Configure Repeat Every (HH:mm) if you want the system to resend alerts at fixed intervals.
  9. Select Consider Status: Idle, Running and Stop.
  10. Enter the Text Message (e.g., “Temperature Alert Triggered”).
  11. Configure Valid Day(s):Everyday or Custom
  12. Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
  13. Select the Timezone for the region of operation.
  14. Choose the Severity Level – Low, Medium, or High.
  15. Configure the Action: SMS, Email or Notification

Example / Use Case

A Temperature Alert is triggered when the temperature inside a refrigerated vehicle goes beyond the predefined safety range during transit. For instance, if the temperature rises above an acceptable limit while transporting perishable goods, the system detects the deviation and immediately alerts the fleet manager. This helps ensure that temperature-sensitive cargo is monitored continuously, corrective actions can be taken promptly, and product quality is preserved throughout the journey.

Based-On

  • Vehicle:Apply the alert to a single vehicle that carries temperature-sensitive goods or equipment.

  • Vehicle Group:Useful when multiple vehicles in a particular project, region, or fleet operate under temperature-controlled conditions.

  • Vehicle Type:Applicable when monitoring specific categories, such as refrigerated trucks, cold storage vans, or insulated carriers.

Consider (Value Conditions)

  • Greater Than – triggers when temperature exceeds the set threshold.
  • Less Than – triggers when temperature falls below the threshold.
  • Greater Than or Less Than – triggers for any deviation on either side.
  • Between (X and Y) – triggers when the temperature falls within or outside a defined range depending on configuration.

Consider Status

  • Idle – monitor when the vehicle is stationary.
  • Running – monitor during movement.
  • Stop – monitor when the vehicle engine is OFF.

Action

  • SMS:Configured under Admin/Reseller/Company settings. Add phone numbers to receive instant notifications for temperature deviations.

  • Email:Add recipient email addresses to receive detailed temperature alerts.

  • Notification:Configure notification sound and assign users who should receive in-app alerts whenever temperature violations occur.
