Overtime Drive Alert

Definition / Description

The Overtime Drive Alert is triggered when a vehicle has been driven continuously for a duration exceeding the configured time limit. This alert helps fleet managers monitor and manage driver working hours, prevent fatigue, and ensure adherence to legal or company-defined driving hour regulations. By detecting excessive driving durations, it promotes safer driving practices and helps prevent accidents related to driver exhaustion.

How to Configure

  1. Select the Company and Branch.
  2. Under Based On, choose one of the following options: Object, Object Group or Object Type
  3. Select the Object (vehicle) for which you want to apply the alert.
  4. Enter the Alert Name (e.g., “Overtime Drive”).
  5. From the Alert Type dropdown, select Overtime Drive.
  6. Set the Duration value (in minutes) — the threshold for how long the vehicle can be continuously driven before triggering the alert.
  7. Enter the Value (Time Range) — the time period (between HH:mm:ss and HH:mm:ss) during which the system should monitor for this condition.
  8. Add a descriptive Text Message (e.g., “Driver has exceeded continuous driving limit — Overtime Drive detected”).
  9. Configure Valid Day(s): Everyday or Custom.
  10. Set the Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
  11. Choose the Timezone to ensure correct alert timing based on regional settings.
  12. Select the Severity LevelLow, Medium, or High – based on company policy.
  13. Configure the Action to define how notifications are sent: SMS, Email or Notification
  14. Click Save to activate the alert configuration.

Example / Use Case

An Overtime Drive Alert is triggered when a driver continues operating a vehicle beyond the configured driving duration without a sufficient break. For instance, if a driver exceeds the defined time limit during a delivery route, the system will detect continuous movement and trigger the alert. The fleet manager receives a notification through SMS, email, or the platform, allowing them to contact the driver, recommend a rest stop, or assign a replacement. This ensures driver safety, compliance with work-hour limits, and prevents fatigue-related accidents.

When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

  • Object: Apply the alert to an individual vehicle.

  • Object Group: Apply to a group of vehicles that share similar operational behavior.

  • Object Type: Apply to a specific type of vehicle (e.g., trucks, buses, vans) for consistent monitoring across the fleet.

Action

  • SMS: Must be configured under Admin, Reseller, or Company setup. Add recipient numbers to receive instant notifications.

  • Email: Add recipient email addresses to receive Overtime Drive alerts directly in their inbox.

  • Notification: Choose a notification sound and select users who should receive real-time platform alerts.
