Harsh Braking Alert

The Harsh Braking alert is used to notify users when a vehicle performs sudden or aggressive braking based on the configured braking criteria. This alert helps organizations monitor driver behavior, identify unsafe braking events, and improve overall driving safety. 

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

• Vehicle Speed Data: The selected object must provide valid speed data for the alert to be triggered.
• Speed Limit: A speed threshold must be configured to evaluate the harsh braking event.
• Braking Event/Magnitude: Depending on the selected configuration, the system can evaluate the braking event received from the device or use a custom Magnitude value.

How to Configure

1. Select the correct Company and Branch for whom the alert is to be configured.
2. Based On: Choose what you want to base the alert configuration on (Object, Object Group, Object Type).
   1. Object: Select individual vehicles/objects for whom you want the alert to generate.
   2. Object Group: Select a group of vehicles/objects for whom you want the alert to generate.
   3. Object Type: Select a vehicle or object type for whom you want the alert to generate.
3. Select the Object based on the previous step selection.
4. Set an Alert Name for identification of the alert.
5. Select the Alert Type as Harsh Braking.
6. Enter the Speed Limit. This value defines the speed threshold considered while evaluating the harsh braking event.
7. Under Based On, select how the harsh braking condition should be evaluated:
   1. Event: Select Event to generate the alert based on the harsh braking event received from the device/system.
      • Enable Consider Magnitude if the braking magnitude should also be considered while evaluating the event.
   2. Custom: Select Custom to define the braking condition manually.
      • Enter the required value in Magnitude to define the braking intensity threshold.
8. In the Text field, enter the message that will be displayed when the Harsh Braking alert is triggered.
9. Select the Valid Day(s) as Everyday or Custom.
   1. Everyday: The alert will be triggered every day when the configured harsh braking condition is met.
   2. Custom: Select the specific days on which you want this alert to be triggered.
10. Enter the Valid Time From and To. The alert will be generated only within the selected time range.
11. Select the required Timezone.
12. Select the Severity of the alert (Low, Medium, or High).
13. Under Action, select the medium through which the alert or action should be performed.
    1. SMS: To receive the alert by SMS, enable the checkbox and enter the required phone numbers.
    2. Email: To receive the alert by email, enable the checkbox and enter the email recipients.
    3. Notification: To receive the alert as a system push notification, enable the checkbox and select the users who should receive it.
    4. Social Media API: To receive the alert through WhatsApp or Telegram, enable the checkbox and configure the required gateway and recipient details.
    5. Send Command: Enable this option to send a configured command to the object when the alert is triggered.
    6. IVR: To receive the alert through an automated voice call, enable the checkbox and enter the required phone numbers.
14. Click the Save 💾 icon to save the alert configuration.

Example

A vehicle is traveling at 30 km/h or above, and the driver suddenly applies the brakes with a braking intensity that meets the configured harsh braking criteria. The system detects the event and triggers the Harsh Braking alert. The configured users receive a notification, allowing the fleet operator to review the event and take appropriate action to improve driving safety.
