Harsh Acceleration

Harsh Acceleration Alert is triggered when a vehicle accelerates suddenly beyond a defined threshold. It helps fleet managers identify aggressive driving, improve safety, and reduce vehicle wear and fuel wastage. The alert can be generated either from direct device events or by using a custom acceleration magnitude threshold.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

  • Enable Event: for triggering the alert based on Event, the harsh acceleration must be enabled on the device.

Please Note : For custom option the alert will be triggered based on vehicle speed & configured magnitude.

How to Configure

  1. Select the correct Company and Branch for whom the alert is to be configured.

  2. Based On: Choose on what you want to base the alert configuration (Object, Object Group, Object Type).

    1. Object: Select individual vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.

    2. Object Group: Select a group of vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.

  3. Object Type: Select vehicle or object type for whom you want the alert to generate.

  4. Select the Object based on the previous step selection.
  5. Set an Alert Name for identification of the alert.
  6. Select the Alert Type as Harsh Acceleration.
  7. In Based On, Select Event or Custom.
    1. Select Event, If you want to trigger alert when we receive the event from the device.
      1. Select Consider Magnitude, If you want to consider the speed that will increase in order to trigger the alert.
        1. In Magnitude, Enter the difference in speed after which the alert is to be triggered.
(If Magnitude = 15 km/h, and the vehicle speed jumps from 30 → 45 km/h, the Harsh Acceleration alert will trigger.)
    2. Select Custom, if you want to trigger the alert based on your configuration.
      1. In Magnitude, Enter the difference in speed after which the alert is to be triggered.
(If Magnitude = 15 km/h, and the vehicle speed jumps from 30 → 45 km/h, the Harsh Acceleration alert will trigger.)
  8. In the Text field, enter the message that will be displayed when the alert is triggered.

  9. Select the Valid Days, Everyday or Custom.
    1. Everyday: This alert will be triggered, everyday in case of a violation in accordance to these parameters set.
    2. Custom: Mark the checkboxes of the days, when you want this alert to be triggered for. (eg., Sun, Mon and Sat)
  10. Enter the Valid Time From and To. The alert will be generated inside the time range that you have selected.
  11. Select the Timezone.
  12. Select the Severity of the alert (LowMedium, or High).
  13. Mark the checkboxes of the medium via which you want the Action or Notification to be sent. (eg., SMS, Email or Notification)
    1. SMS: To receive an alert by SMS, enable the checkbox, enter the phone numbers.
    2. Email: To receive an alert by Email, enable the checkbox, enter the recipients of the email.
    3. Notification: To receive an alert on the system Push Notification, enable checkbox.
      1. From Users,  select the users that will receive the notification.
      2. From Notification Sound. Select the sound from the drop-down that will be played for this notification.
  14. Click Save 💾 icon. to save the alert configuration.

Please Note: To Receive the alert on SMS & Email, the api should be configured either on Admin, Reseller or Company.

Example

The Harsh Acceleration alert is triggered when a vehicle’s speed increases suddenly beyond the configured magnitude limit. You can set it Based On either Event (when the device sends the harsh acceleration event) or Custom (when the system checks the speed jump based on your settings). For example, if Magnitude = 15 km/h and the vehicle speed rises from 30 km/h to 45 km/h, the alert will be triggered. Once triggered, notifications are sent to the fleet manager through the selected channels (SMS, Email, or In-App Notification) to help monitor aggressive driving and improve safety.
