Engine Temperature Alert
Definition / Description
The Engine Temperature alert is triggered when the vehicle’s engine temperature reaches or exceeds a user-defined threshold for a specified duration. This alert helps identify potential overheating conditions, ensuring timely preventive action to avoid engine damage, breakdowns, or costly repairs. Monitoring engine temperature is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and engine longevity.
Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)
The vehicle’s temperature must be received from a CAN bus device.
How to Configure
- Select the relevant Company and Branch.
- From the Alert Type dropdown, choose Engine Temperature.
- Enter an appropriate Alert Name.
-
Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type

- Configure the Duration (in seconds) for which the temperature must remain above the threshold before the alert is triggered.
- Enter a descriptive Text message (e.g., “Engine temperature has exceeded the safe limit”).
- Select Valid Days — either Everyday or Custom, and specify days if custom.
- Define Valid Time From / To for when the alert should be active.

Example / Use Case
An Engine Temperature alert is generated when the system detects that a vehicle’s engine temperature exceeds the threshold added (e.g., less than or greater than 30 degree C) for the defined duration(e.g., 30 seconds) . The fleet manager receives a notification via SMS, Email, or In-App alert, enabling immediate action such as instructing the driver to stop the vehicle and allow the engine to cool down. This proactive measure helps prevent overheating-related damage and ensures the vehicle continues to operate safely.
When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type
- When Object is selected, a dropdown displays all vehicles; select the specific vehicles you want to apply the alert to.
- When Object Group is selected, a dropdown of all available groups appears; after selecting a group, you can view and select the vehicles within that group.
- When Object Type is selected, a dropdown lists all object types; after selecting one, all vehicles under that type will be displayed for selection.
