Elock Motor Fault Alert
Definition / Description
The Elock Motor Fault Alert is triggered when the electronic lock (Elock) detects a malfunction or irregularity in its motor operation. The motor within the Elock is responsible for engaging and disengaging the locking mechanism; any fault in its function may prevent the lock from opening or closing correctly. This alert helps identify technical issues in the locking system early, ensuring that the lock’s mechanical integrity is maintained and preventing possible disruptions in cargo operations or security breaches due to hardware failure.
Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)
Elock Device Model:
An Elock-enabled device must be installed and properly configured on the object screen. The device should support motor status monitoring and be capable of sending event signals when a fault, malfunction, or abnormal activity is detected in the lock motor.
Device Configuration:
The Elock must be correctly integrated with the tracking system to transmit diagnostic data, including motor health or fault status, to the application in real time.
How to Configure
- Select the relevant Company and Branch.
- Under Based On, choose the basis for triggering the alert:Object, Object Group or Object Type
- Select the Object where the alert should be applied.
- Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “Elock Motor Fault”).
- From the Alert Type dropdown, select Elock Motor Fault.
- Based on: On Job or All Event.
- In the Text field, enter a descriptive message (e.g., “Elock motor fault detected — mechanical malfunction in lock mechanism”).
- Configure Valid Day(s):
- Everyday – for all days.
-
- Custom – to select specific days.
- Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
- Select the appropriate Timezone.
- Choose the Severity Level — Low, Medium, or High.
- Configure the Action to be taken when the alert triggers: SMS, Email, or Notification.
- Click Save to complete the configuration.
Example / Use Case
An Elock Motor Fault Alert is triggered when the system detects an operational failure or mechanical issue within the Elock’s motor — for example, when the motor fails to rotate during a lock or unlock command. This alert allows the fleet manager to take timely corrective action, such as notifying maintenance personnel or remotely disabling lock operations until inspection. Once the alert is generated, a notification is sent through the configured communication channel (e.g., SMS, Email, or In-App Notification), ensuring that the issue is quickly addressed to avoid potential lock malfunctions or cargo security risks.
Based On: When do you want this alert to be triggered;
- On Job: When you select On job, the alert is only triggered when the cargo is on the job.
- All Event: When you select All Event, the alert is also triggered when the trailer or cargo is not on the job.
Action
The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).
- SMS: Must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, contact numbers can be added to receive alert notifications.
- Email: Must be configured during account setup. Add email recipients to receive notifications through email.
- In-App Notification: Choose the notification sound and specify users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.
When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type
- Object: Select individual vehicles or assets equipped with an Elock for which the alert should be applied.
- Object Group: Select a group of Elock-equipped vehicles or assets; all within the group will be monitored for motor fault events.
- Object Type: Select vehicle or asset types that support Elock motor diagnostics; all under that type will be available for configuration.
