Definition / Description
The DMS Driver Abnormal Alarm is triggered when the Driver Monitoring System (DMS) detects abnormal driver behavior such as distraction, drowsiness, phone usage, smoking, or other activities that indicate inattentive or unsafe driving. This alert enables fleet managers to take proactive measures to ensure driver safety and prevent accidents caused by fatigue or lack of focus.
Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)
- Video Streaming Device or DMS:
A DMS-enabled camera or video streaming device must be installed and properly configured on the object screen to detect and report abnormal driver behaviors.
How to Configure
- Select the relevant Company and Branch.
- Under Based On, choose on what objects you want the alert to be triggered: Object, Object Group or Object Type
- Select the Object where the alert should be applied.
- Enter an Alert Name (e.g., “DMS Driver Abnormal Alarm”).
- From the Alert Type dropdown, select Driver Abnormal Alarm.
- In the Text field, enter a descriptive message (e.g., “Driver abnormal behavior detected by DMS system”).
- Configure Valid Day(s):
- Everyday – for all days.

- Custom – to select specific days.
- Set Valid Time From / To (e.g., 00:00 to 23:59).
- Select the appropriate Timezone.
- Choose the Severity Level — Low, Medium, or High.
- Configure the Action to be taken when the alert triggers: SMS, Email, or Notification.
- Click Save to complete configuration.
Example / Use Case
A DMS Driver Abnormal Alarm is triggered when the installed DMS camera detects unsafe driver behavior, such as the driver appearing drowsy, using a mobile phone, or not paying attention to the road. The alert helps fleet managers monitor and address unsafe driving practices promptly, enhancing overall road safety and reducing accident risks.
Action: The selected notification or action must be configured (e.g., SMS, Email, or Notification).
- SMS: SMS must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. After setup, you can add the contact numbers that should receive the alert notification.
- Email: Email must be configured while creating an Admin, Reseller, or Company account. You can then add email recipients to receive the alert notification via email.
- In-App Notification: You can select the notification sound and specify the users who should receive the alert notification within the platform.
When Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type
- Object: Select individual vehicles equipped with a DMS device for which the alert should be applied.
- Object Group: Select a group of DMS-equipped vehicles; all in the group will appear for selection.
- Object Type: Select vehicle types that support DMS-based driver behavior detection; all vehicles under that type will be available for configuration.
