Device Low Battery

 

Definition / Description

The Device Low Battery Alert is triggered when a vehicle’s battery level falls below the defined threshold. This alert helps fleet managers ensure vehicles and tracking devices remain operational, preventing disruptions caused by low battery levels. The alert can be configured based on actual battery events or custom thresholds with time-based validation to avoid false alerts from brief voltage fluctuations.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

  • Battery: The device should be capable of sending the event for Low battery and/or the battery level info.

How to Configure

  1. Select the correct Company and Branch for whom the alert is to be configured.

  2. Based On: Choose on what you want to base the alert configuration (Object, Object Group, Object Type).

    1. Object: Select individual vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.
    2. Object Group: Select a group of vehicles for whom you want the alert to generate.
    3. Object Type: Select vehicle or object type for whom you want the alert to generate.
  3. Select the Object based on the previous step selection.

  4. Set an Alert Name for identification of the alert.

  5. Select the Alert Type as Device Low Battery.

  6. From Based On, Select Event or Custom.
    1. Select Event, If you want the alert to be generated when we receive the event data directly from device.
    2. Select Custom, If you want to set your custom percentage to trigger the alert.
      1. In Value, specify the battery percentage. The alert will be triggered when the battery level drops below the defined limit.
  7. Enter the Valid Time From and To. The alert will be generated inside the time range that you have selected.
  8. Select the Timezone.
  9. Select the Severity of the alert (LowMedium, or High).
  10. Mark the checkboxes of the medium via which you want the Action or Notification to be sent. (eg., SMS, Email or Notification)
    1. SMS: To receive an alert by SMS, enable the checkbox, enter the phone numbers.
    2. Email: To receive an alert by Email, enable the checkbox, enter the recipients of the email.
    3. Notification: To receive an alert on the system Push Notification, enable checkbox.
      1. From Users,  select the users that will receive the notification.
      2. From Notification Sound. Select the sound from the drop-down that will be played for this notification.
  11. Click Save 💾 icon. to save the alert configuration.

Please Note: To Receive the alert on SMS & Email, the api should be configured either on Admin, Reseller or Company.

Example

The Device Low Battery Alert is triggered when the vehicle’s battery level drops below the configured threshold. Notifications are sent based on the configuration, allowing fleet managers to take timely action—such as charging or replacing the battery—to ensure uninterrupted operation of the vehicle and its connected systems.

When Custom is selected, you must specify the battery threshold Value, below which the alert will be triggered.
