Ship Engine 3 Alert

Definition / Description

The Ship Engine 3 alert is triggered when the sensor configured for the ship’s engine detects a start or stop event. This alert helps fleet managers or operators monitor engine operations, ensuring timely awareness of engine activity and enabling preventive actions for operational safety or maintenance purposes.

Parameters Considered (Prerequisites)

  • Digital Port / Sensor: A digital port must be configured to detect the engine’s start or stop status.
  • Engine Status: The alert activates based on the engine starting, stopping, or both events.

How to Configure

  1. Select the appropriate Company and Branch.
  2. From the Alert Type dropdown, choose Ship Engine 3.
  3. Enter an Alert Name as per your preference.
  4. Select Based On: Object, Object Group, or Object Type, and then select the specific object(s) as applicable.
  5. Configure the Value:STOP, START or BOTH.
  6. Enter a description in the Text field (e.g., “Engine 3 started/stopped”).
  7. Configure Valid Days — choose Everyday or Custom, and specify the days if custom.
  8. Set the Valid Time From / To to define when the alert is active.
  9. Select the appropriate TimeZone.
  10. Choose the Severity Level (Low / Medium / High).
  11. Select the notification method: SMS, Email, or In-App Notification.
  12. Click Save.

Use Case

A Ship Engine 3 alert is triggered when the sensor detects the engine starting or stopping, based on the configured settings for a specific ship. Notifications are sent via SMS, Email, or In-App Notification, enabling fleet managers or operators to monitor engine activity in real time, respond promptly to operational changes, and ensure vessel safety.

Value:

  • Start: Alert triggers when the engine starts.
  • Stop: Alert triggers when the engine stops.
  • Both: Alert triggers for both start and stop events.

When Based On: Object, Object Group or Object Type

  • When you select Object only a dropdown with all the objects will appear. You can select specific vehicles if you want to create the alert specifically for them. 
  • When you select Object Group, a dropdown with a list of all Object groups will appear. When you select a specific Object Group , a list of Objects present in that object group will appear below it. If you want the alert to be triggered for specific objects of that specific Object group. (e.g., Object Group and Object)
  • When you select Object Type, a dropdown with a list of all Object groups will appear. When you select a specific Object Type , a list of Objects present in that object type will appear below it. If you want the alert to be triggered for specific objects of that specific Object type. (e.g., Object type and Object)
