Route Optimization Feature

Route optimization is the process of determining the most efficient route for a vehicle or object and ensuring that selected vehicles are utilized effectively for assigned jobs. This feature helps save time, reduce fuel consumption, improve operational efficiency, lower transportation costs, and boost productivity. Jobs are automatically created using route optimization, streamlining job assignments, and ensuring optimal resource utilization.

Please Note 

  • The Route Optimization feature is exclusively available in the Premium version of the platform.

To Optimize the Route

  • Log in to your account.
  • Go to Settings > Master > Route Optimization
    • Select the Optimization Based On option from the drop-down list to choose the criteria for route optimization.
      • Distance: Select the Distance option if your goal is to optimize the route primarily based on distance.

        • Select the Company from the dropdown list to define which company's vehicles or assets will be included in the route optimization process.

        • Select the Objects from the dropdown list to specify the vehicles or assets that need to be included for route planning.

        • Enter the Radius of the points to set the distance within which the optimization should occur, ensuring that the routes stay within the specified radius.

      • Distance with weight: Select Distance with Weight if you want to optimize the route based on the distance along with the weight of the load. 

        • Select the Company from the dropdown list to define which company's vehicles or assets will be included in the route optimization process.
        • Select the Load Type: Full or Partial.
        • Choose the appropriate Product Type that corresponds to the load on the vehicle from the drop-down list.
        • Select the Unit of the product or load on the vehicle from the drop-down list.
        • Select the Objects from the dropdown list to specify the vehicles or assets that need to be included for route planning.
        • Enter the Radius of the points to set the distance within which the optimization should occur, ensuring that the routes stay within the specified radius.
    • To add a start point, click on thebutton.

      • Search Location in the search bar. Utilize the marker to pinpoint the exact location.
      • Click on the Save 💾 icon.
    • To add delivery point:
      • Click on the button for uploading delivery points one by one.
         
        • Search Location in the search bar. Utilize the marker to pinpoint the exact location.
        • Click on the Save 💾 icon.
      • Click on the upload button for bulk uploading delivery points.

        • Download the sample file from the link given. The file will hold the basic information about the delivery points.
        • After you have entered all the necessary information, please upload the XLS file using Choose File option.
        • Click on the Save 💾 icon.
    • Click on Optimize Route.
    • To create a job of all trips:
      • Click on the button.
      • Select the Start-End Time of the job from the date and time picker. 
      • Click on Save.
    • To create a job of one of the trips:
      • Click on the button.
      • Enter the Name of the trip.
      • Select the Start-End Time of the job from the date and time picker. 
      • Checkpoints with time: Select the checkbox if you wish to include time-specific checkpoints in your planning.
      • Click on Save.

Please Note: To use route optimization features with Google Maps, the following APIs are required to be enabled along with your Map API Key: 
Directions API, Distance Matrix API, Routes API, Places API (optional), Geocoding API (optional).
